As a sponsor, Eagle Sports had the opportunity to attend the recent Annual Australian Darts Championship. This year marked the 43rd year of the event - and it was one to remember!

The National Team Championships kicked off with Victoria dominating the Men's League, finishing undefeated. Meanwhile, Western Australia claimed victory in the Women's League. South Australia secured the runner-up spot in both categories.

In the Doubles rounds, New South Wales duo Shannon O’Brien and Sarah Harrison clinched the Australian Doubles Championships by defeating Western Australia's Adam Rowe and Tiarna Smith. Tiarna Smith then went on to win the Ladies Doubles with Tamara Brown, both from WA, while Raymond Smith and Dave Marshall from QLD took out the Mens Doubles Title.

The final categories of the event, the Singles rounds, featured some intense competition. In the Women's finals, Tiarna Smith claimed another victory, this time defeating her teammate Amanda Loche with a final score of 6-3. Raymond Smith from QLD was the victor in the Mens event, with a very close fought match at 6-4.

Raymond Smith had even more to celebrate - in a history making game he became the first player to achieve a 9-dart game in the history of the competition. Extremely difficult to pull off, a 9 dart game is a perfect leg of darts when the target score is 501. Raymond achieved this with scores of 180 for the first two rounds and 141 in the final round.
